Certificates of Deposit (CDs) are accounts opened for a certain period of time; funds must remain in the Bank until maturity or a penalty may be assessed. CDs usually earn a higher rate of interest than a Savings, a Money Market, or a NOW account. First Citizens Bank offers CDs with terms ranging from 30 days to five years. Usually the longer the period the higher the rate of interest.
